Alliance for Building Communities is currently renovating The Knitting Mill at Peach Alley in Hamburg, Pennsylvania. Groundbreaking took place in November 2007. The two-story brick structure will undergo a historical restoration that will transform the old mill into 27 energy-efficient apartments for senior citizens, including six handicapped accessible units. Once completed and occupied, residents will be able to enjoy the landscaped courtyard and appreciate the convenience of 28 onsite parking spaces. The Knitting Mill at Peach Alley is centrally located to essential services within the Borough of Hamburg. Located only one block away is Hamburg’s main shopping area. Services that can be found within walking distance are medical offices, a senior center, pharmacies, food markets, churches, a post office, the library, a theater, hair salons, restaurants, banks and retail stores.
